Fresh rain topping the water up today, with a light S breeze with a settled glass. Give bays that hold the day's warmth the first hour at Lac de la Folie. The day fishes best from the day. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac de la Folie is one of the Mauricie waters in Quebec. It lies 365 metres above sea level. At 2 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Our Mauricie list holds plenty of bigger water. You are 47 km from La Tuque. Sainte-Thècle lies 69 km off, Saint-Tite another 70 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Across Mauricie, recorded fish include northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. The county list is broader than any single water. On Lac de la Folie the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Between January at about -16°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late April. Averages place the thaw at late April and the freeze at late November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Anyone fishing Lac de la Folie regularly works to that calendar.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Should this one be busy, Lac Dement is 0.5 km off. Check the position on Lac de la Folie before loading the car.
