Flat light and a covered sky today, with an easy breeze from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. Expect most activity at Lac de la Falaise around points where shallow meets deep. A slow day overall; the night is the best of a quiet lot. Scale down and fish slowly. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

In Quebec, Lac de la Falaise belongs to Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine. The sea is 23 km distant. It covers about 3 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. Gaspé sits 64 km from the bank. Sainte-Anne-des-Monts is 87 km and Chandler 89 km. Others within reach: Lac Simoneau a touch under 7.6 km, Lac Leo just 7.9 km, Lac Castor a touch under 8.8 km, Lac du Trefle just 8.9 km and Lac Croche a touch under 9.3 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Species logged across Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine include American eel, striped bass, alewife and rainbow smelt. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. The shape of Lac de la Falaise rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Long-term averages put July at about 16°C and January near -13°C. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Open water usually runs from early May until about late November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Anyone fishing Lac de la Falaise regularly works to that calendar.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac Simoneau, 7.6 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the position at Lac de la Falaise before loading the car.
