Fresh rain topping the water up today, with enough SSW wind to stack food downwind and pressure going nowhere. The water to cover at Lac de la Colline is the first drop-off and weed lines. If you pick one session, make it the morning. Stay mobile and follow the activity. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac de la Colline is set in Lanaudière, Quebec. Beyond the shoreline you have pine and birch. About 5 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. It is high ground by Quebec standards. Nearest place of any size is Saint-Michel-des-Saints, 19 km away. Saint-Donat-de-Montcalm follows at 28 km, then Sainte-Béatrix at 45 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Across Lanaudière, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass and brook trout. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Anyone new to Lac de la Colline should walk it once before setting up.
July runs about 17°C on average, January about -15°C. Winter shuts the surface down for months. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early May. Ice clears near early May and comes back about late November in a typical year. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Plan around that when you fish Lac de la Colline.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Failing this one, try Lac Saillant, 0.9 km away. Rules at Lac de la Colline are worth checking on the day.
