A storm system brushing the area today, with air barely moving with a settled glass. Expect most activity at Lac David around windblown banks where food collects. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the night. Lower the pace and stay patient. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac David falls in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, part of Quebec. Elevation runs to 401 metres. This is sizeable water at about 1.19 sq km, and a boat opens up most of it. Shoreline length is close to 18 km, and each section fishes a little differently. It ranks high for size among our Abitibi-Témiscamingue listings. Senneterre at 54 km is the nearest place to stop. Barraute is 84 km away, with Lebel-sur-Quévillon at 84 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Open biodiversity records for Abitibi-Témiscamingue list northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Lac David gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Climate records put July near 16°C and January near -18°C. Cold dominates the calendar on water this far north. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from early May. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. At Lac David the season follows that pattern closely.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Should this one be busy, Lac Louis is 2.1 km off.
