A closed sky with even light today, with a steady SSW wind and no real change in pressure. Fish at Lac Dauphin should hold close to the calm side of the wind. The night should out-fish the rest of the day. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac Dauphin belongs to Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. The ground round it is taiga. At about 35 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Shoreline comes to about 3.8 km, small enough to learn in a day. It is among the larger waters listed here for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. The nearest town is Leblanc, 70 km away. Normandin is 96 km and Weymontachie 99 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Reported across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean: northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Read Lac Dauphin for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
On the long-term average, July reads 16°C and January reads -18°C. This far north the hard season runs and runs. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Lac Dauphin runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. For a change of water, Lac Proton is 1.5 km distant. Where Lac Dauphin is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
