Heavy overcast holding through the day, with hardly a ripple anywhere with the glass holding level. Activity on Lac Damase should centre on reed fringes and open pockets. A stay-home graph, with the evening as the one excuse to go. Scale down and fish slowly. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

In Quebec, Lac Damase falls inside Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. The bank is 662 metres above sea level. At roughly 8 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. It is high ground by Quebec standards. 48 km away sits Saint-Honoré, the nearest town. Then Saint-Ambroise, 54 km, and Saint-Fulgence, 55 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, recorded fish include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. The shape of Lac Damase decides where the fish sit.
Expect July near 15°C and January near -19°C on the long-run figures. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Once it clears, about mid May, the fishing comes on quickly. Ice clears near mid May and comes back about early November in a typical year. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Damase.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. For a change of water, Lac Rebelle is 1.1 km distant. The position on Lac Damase is worth confirming on the day.
