Rain colouring the margins today, with a kind SSW breeze on the water and the barometer holding steady. Give the margins and the shelf beyond them the first hour at Lac Cyprien. Make the night the heart of the trip. Make the first hour count and build on it. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Quebec holds Lac Cyprien, in Laurentides. What surrounds it is lake country bush. At 4 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Supplies mean a trip to Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel, 25 km off. Beyond it, La Minerve at 32 km and Mont-Laurier at 45 km. Not far off: Lac Origny a touch under 0.7 km, Lac Garlan just 0.7 km, Lac du Bois Dur a touch under 1.7 km, Lac Treal just 2.2 km and Lac Ross a touch under 2.2 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Species logged across Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. Lac Cyprien repays a walk before the first cast.
July runs about 18°C on average, January about -14°C. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly late April. Ice clears near late April and comes back about late November in a typical year. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Plan around that when you fish Lac Cyprien.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac Origny, 0.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Lac Cyprien in what we hold.
