Solid cloud cover today, with a kind W breeze on the water with the glass holding level. Activity on Lac Creux should centre on the shaded margin through bright spells. A slow day overall; the morning is the best of a quiet lot. Go lighter and slower than usual. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Creux is set in Côte-Nord, Quebec. It sits at 194 metres above sea level. At about 28 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The bank runs about 2.1 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. It lies lower than most water we list in Quebec. Start from Havre-Saint-Pierre, 84 km down the road. Further out sit Gaspé (128 km) and Perce (147 km). One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Species logged across Côte-Nord include logperch. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. At Lac Creux the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Expect July near 16°C and January near -13°C on the long-run figures. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. Open water usually runs from early May until about late November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Anyone fishing Lac Creux regularly works to that calendar.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. This one is mapped as intermittent, so a wasted trip is a real risk in a dry year. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Failing this one, try Lac de la Tete, 1.5 km away. Treat access at Lac Creux as something to verify.
