No direct sun expected today, with mild air moving in from the W and no real change in pressure. Give the seam between weed and open water the first hour at Lac Creux. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Creux is a Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean water, Quebec side. It lies 175 metres above sea level. Small at around 10 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. Roughly 2.1 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. It is low-lying compared with other Quebec water we list. Dolbeau-Mistassini sits 19 km from the bank. Further out sit Albanel (20 km) and Pont Rouge (24 km). It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Species logged across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. At Lac Creux the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Climate normals give 17°C for July and -19°C for January. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. The open-water window runs from around early May to about mid November in an average year. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. The season on Lac Creux rarely departs from it.
Access is not recorded for this water. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Lac Andre at 3.1 km is the sensible second choice. Confirm before you fish Lac Creux.
