Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with hardly a ripple anywhere with the glass holding level. On Lac Cray, work the calm side of the wind first. The forecast is against you; the night is the least bad option. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

The Outaouais end of Quebec holds Lac Cray. This is pine and birch country. At roughly 6 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. Head to Saint-Boniface, 84 km away, for anything you forgot. Gatineau sits 196 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. Nearest other option: Lac Balaze within 0.6 km, Lac Kinonge a shade over 0.9 km, Lac Lustar within 1 km, Lac Antezant a shade over 1.3 km and Lac Erce within 1.7 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Records held for Outaouais cover pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. On Lac Cray a short move beats a long cast.
Expect July to average close to 17°C, with January the cold end at about -17°C. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around early May. Break-up near early May, freeze-up near late November: that is the shape of an average year. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Expect Lac Cray to follow that timing.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac Balaze at 0.6 km is the sensible second choice. Signs at Lac Cray carry more weight than any list.
