Rain on and off through the day, with light air out of the SW and no real change in pressure. Most of the action on Lac Cranberry should come off structure within a cast of the bank. If you must go, go in the morning. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Cranberry is listed under Quebec. The setting is lake country bush on every side. At about 46 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. A shoreline of some 2.7 km keeps the choices simple. It ranks high for size among our Quebec listings. Deep River at 47 km is the nearest place to stop. Beyond it, Chalk River at 57 km and Mattawa at 61 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. At Lac Cranberry light and wind decide more than tackle does. Watch for fry activity and fish under it.
Seasonal averages run from -14°C in January up to 18°C in July. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around late April. In an average year the thaw lands around late April and the freeze near late November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Cranberry.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lac au Sable sits 1.6 km off and takes the overflow. Signs at Lac Cranberry carry more weight than any list.
