Dull, settled light over the water, with almost no wind to speak of with the barometer flat. Whatever swims in Lac Courny should be near points where shallow meets deep. One clear peak today: the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Courny belongs to Mauricie, Quebec. The bank is 427 metres above sea level. Surface area is around 16 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. About 2.7 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. Head to Chapais, 64 km away, for anything you forgot. Chibougamau is 83 km and Leblanc 110 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Across Mauricie, recorded fish include northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. On Lac Courny the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Between January at about -19°C and July at about 16°C, the water has a wide range to work through. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early May. Climate averages put the opening at about early May and the closing near mid November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Anyone fishing Lac Courny regularly works to that calendar.
Public data does not answer the access question here. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. For a change of water, Lac en Fleche is 3.1 km distant. Nothing on Lac Courny should be assumed from this page alone.
