No direct sun expected today, with calm air over the water with a settled glass. Lac Cote should fish best around shallow cover and weed edges today. Numbers are low everywhere; the middle of the day is the pick of them. Take the small wins and call it early if it dies. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Laurentides, Quebec, is where Lac Cote sits. It stands 436 metres above sea level. It runs to roughly 16 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. The bank runs about 2.0 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Ferme-Neuve sits 93 km from here and is the nearest stop. The big place round here is Gatineau, 225 km distant. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Reported across Laurentides: pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. The shape of Lac Cote rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Between January at about -17°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. The season on Lac Cote rarely departs from it.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac Foulkes, 0.9 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Ask locally about Lac Cote if anything is unclear.
