Passing showers with dry spells between, with an easy breeze from the SSW with the glass holding level. Fish at Lac Coppland should hold close to the shallows early and the drop later. Save your energy for the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Set in Lanaudière, Quebec, this is Lac Coppland. The ground around here is mixed forest. Surface area is around 16 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. The edge runs 1.9 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Start from Saint-Michel-des-Saints, 29 km down the road. The nearest city of size is Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne, 134 km away. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass and brook trout. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. At Lac Coppland light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Seasonal averages run from -15°C in January up to 17°C in July. Hard water is a season in its own right here. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Ice clears near late April and comes back about late November in a typical year. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Coppland.
No access rule appears in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. For a change of water, Lac Charland is 1.6 km distant. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Coppland for certain.
