Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a faint SSW drift and steady pressure. Expect most activity at Lac Collins around points where shallow meets deep. If you pick one session, make it the night. Work the productive water thoroughly. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Quebec holds Lac Collins, in Mauricie. Height above sea level is 452 metres. The water covers some 22 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. Head to Leblanc, 25 km away, for anything you forgot. After that come Weymontachie at 35 km and Manawan at 98 km. Others worth noting: Lac Yolande 0.8 km, Lac Spafford within 1.8 km, Lac White 1.8 km, Lac Eloise within 2.4 km and Lac Austin 2.6 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Across Mauricie, recorded fish include northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Read Lac Collins before you fish it and the day goes better.
Seasonal averages run from -17°C in January up to 16°C in July. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near early May. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Expect Lac Collins to follow that timing.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. For a change of water, Lac Yolande is 0.8 km distant. Check the position at Lac Collins before loading the car.
