Soft grey light all day today, with a helpful ripple pushed from the SW and steady pressure. Most of the action on Lac Coeur should come off reed fringes and open pockets. A hard day on paper; the evening edges the rest. Lower the pace and stay patient. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Night
Look for Lac Coeur in the Côte-Nord part of Quebec. Height above sea level is 161 metres. At 4 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Our Côte-Nord list holds plenty of bigger water. Some 59 km away sits Baie-Comeau, the nearest settlement. Saguenay sits 291 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. No border sits close enough to matter.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Across Côte-Nord, recorded fish include logperch. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. The shape of Lac Coeur decides where the fish sit.
Average temperature peaks around 16°C in July and bottoms out near -14°C in January. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about late November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Anyone fishing Lac Coeur regularly works to that calendar.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac Morillon, 0.8 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Signs at Lac Coeur carry more weight than any list.
