Rain on and off through the day, with hardly a ripple anywhere and pressure sitting still. Give reed fringes and open pockets the first hour at Lac Coco. One clear peak today: the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac Coco is one of the Nord-du-Québec waters in Quebec. What surrounds it is boreal forest. It runs to roughly 33 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. There is roughly 2.4 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. It sits higher than most water we list in Quebec. Supplies mean a trip to Chibougamau, 29 km off. Chapais is 61 km away, with Mistissini at 70 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Reported across Nord-du-Québec: Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout, lake whitefish and cisco. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. The near bank of Lac Coco is often the one people ignore.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -20°C. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. Winter locks it down, and early May brings it back. On average, early May opens the water and early November closes it again. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. That shapes the year on Lac Coco.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. For a change of water, Lac Mison is 2 km distant. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Coco for certain.
