Fresh rain topping the water up today, with air barely moving with the barometer flat. The water to cover at Lac Clytte is windblown banks where food collects. Little to get excited about, though the morning holds a sliver of promise. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short.

The Abitibi-Témiscamingue entry here is Lac Clytte, in Quebec. The surroundings are taiga. It runs to roughly 25 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. The full circuit measures close to 2.4 km on foot. The nearest town is Senneterre, 110 km away. Further out sit Val-d'Or (120 km) and Ferme-Neuve (122 km). Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Fish documented in Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Lac Clytte gives up more to patience than to distance.
July runs about 17°C on average, January about -17°C. Long winters and short summers set the pattern. Once it clears, about early May, the fishing comes on quickly. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Plan around that when you fish Lac Clytte.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Failing this one, try Lac Locre, 1.7 km away. Check the position on Lac Clytte before loading the car.
