An even grey lid over the water, with a soft W wind and pressure going nowhere. Most of the action on Lac Clut should come off structure within a cast of the bank. A stay-home graph, with the evening as the one excuse to go. Scale down and fish slowly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac Clut is set in Lanaudière, Quebec. The ground around here is lake country bush. Around 11 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. Bank access stretches around 1.8 km in total. The town to know is Saint-Michel-des-Saints, 28 km out. Further out sit Mandeville (45 km) and Saint-Gabriel (51 km). It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Across Lanaudière, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and rock bass. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Fish Lac Clut to its features, not to its size.
On the long-term average, July reads 17°C and January reads -15°C. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from late April. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late April until roughly late November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Lac Clut runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. If the gate is shut, Lac du Pecheur at 0.7 km is the nearest alternative. Check the position at Lac Clut before loading the car.
