A closed sky with even light today, with stillness over the whole water with a settled glass. Most of the action on Lac Clair should come off windblown banks where food collects. A stay-home graph, with the evening as the one excuse to go. Scale down and fish slowly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Abitibi-Témiscamingue in Quebec is where Lac Clair sits. Everything around it is spruce and muskeg. Roughly 12 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. About 1.5 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. The town to know is Senneterre, 11 km out. Barraute lies 37 km off, Val-d'Or another 52 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Species logged across Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Lac Clair gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Typical July readings run about 17°C; by January the average is down near -17°C. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around early May. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. On Lac Clair that shapes the whole year.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. For a change of water, Lac Senneterre is 12 km distant. For Lac Clair in particular, ask before you travel.
