An even grey lid over the water, with light air out of the S with a settled glass. Fish at Lac Clair should hold close to any hard bottom among the soft. The numbers single out the morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac Clair is one of the Lanaudière listings for Quebec. The bank is 273 metres above sea level. This is a pocket water of some 6 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Sainte-Béatrix at 4.9 km is the nearest place to stop. Then Saint-Jean-de-Matha, 6.6 km, and Saint-Félix-de-Valois, 17 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Species logged across Lanaudière include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and rock bass. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. Read Lac Clair for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
In an average year July sits at 19°C and January at -14°C. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. In an average year the thaw lands around late April and the freeze near late November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Clair.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Lac a Feu, 0.3 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Signs at Lac Clair carry more weight than any list.
