Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with a faint SSE drift and no real change in pressure. Whatever swims in Lac Cisco should be near points where shallow meets deep. Little to get excited about, though the evening holds a sliver of promise. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly.

Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean in Quebec is where Lac Cisco sits. The setting is spruce and muskeg on every side. With some 11 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The full circuit measures close to 2.2 km on foot. It sits higher than most water we list in Quebec. Nearest place of any size is Chute-aux-Outardes, 194 km away. Hauterive is 196 km and Betsiamites 197 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth figures are not published for this one. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean records list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish among the fish reported. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Read Lac Cisco before you fish it and the day goes better.
Climate normals give 14°C for July and -21°C for January. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. Break-up comes around mid May, and the run that follows is short and strong. Climate figures give an open season running mid May to early November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Plan any trip to Lac Cisco around it.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Should this one be busy, Lac des Ventres Rouges is 2 km off. Treat access at Lac Cisco as something to verify.
