Dull, settled light over the water, with a working SSW breeze and pressure sitting still. Expect most activity at Lac Chinon around the shaded margin through bright spells. A stay-home graph, with the middle of the day as the one excuse to go. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

Lac Chinon lies within the bounds of Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. It stands 355 metres above sea level. At about 34 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. There is roughly 4.2 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. Senneterre at 100 km is the nearest place to stop. Val-d'Or is 114 km away, with Barraute at 124 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Fish documented in Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Lac Chinon responds to conditions more than to tactics.
On the long-term average, July reads 17°C and January reads -18°C. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. The water is typically free of ice between early May and mid November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. On Lac Chinon that shapes the whole year.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Lac Wade, 3.6 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the position at Lac Chinon before loading the car.
