Damp, showery conditions today, with a whisper of wind from the S with the glass holding level. Start the search at Lac Chimo along points where shallow meets deep. The day peaks in the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Chimo is one of the Laurentides waters in Quebec. The land about it is mixed forest. The water measures roughly 4 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. For a base, Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel sits 28 km out. It is 62 km to Orléans, the nearest city. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Species logged across Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Read Lac Chimo before you fish it and the day goes better.
Averages here run 18°C at the top of summer and -14°C at the bottom of winter. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late April. Ice usually gives way near late April, and forms again about late November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. The season on Lac Chimo follows the weather closely.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No built facilities appear in mapping around this water. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. The nearest alternative is Lac Chicopee, 0.4 km out. What applies at Lac Chimo may have changed since it was mapped.
