A grey, even sky over the water, with just enough SW wind to ripple the surface and pressure sitting still. Most of the action on Lac Cherry should come off inflow corners and shaded margins. A slow day overall; the evening is the best of a quiet lot. Lower the pace and stay patient.

Look for Lac Cherry in the Côte-Nord part of Quebec. It sits at 244 metres above sea level. It covers about 6 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Côte-Nord. Head to Baie-Comeau, 56 km away, for anything you forgot. Beyond it, Hauterive at 64 km and Cap-Chat at 72 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Records held for Côte-Nord cover logperch. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Lac Cherry gives up more to patience than to distance.
July runs about 16°C on average, January about -14°C. The year runs cold to warm and back, with clear transitions. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Climate averages put the opening at about early May and the closing near mid November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Plan any trip to Lac Cherry around it.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. For a change of water, Lac Flossie is 0.7 km distant. Treat Lac Cherry as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
