Clear overhead with good moonlight, with a whisper of wind from the NNW and steady pressure. Most of the action on Lac Cheriore should come off the margins and the shelf beyond them. A stay-home graph, with the night as the one excuse to go. Save the long walk for a better forecast. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Mauricie in Quebec is where Lac Cheriore sits. The setting is mixed forest. It measures about 15 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The whole outline is near 2.1 km, and most of it is walkable. Start from Mandeville, 22 km down the road. Further out sit Saint-Gabriel (27 km) and Saint-Jean-de-Matha (33 km). The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth figures are not published for this one. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Fish documented in Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. The county list is broader than any single water. Lac Cheriore repays a walk before the first cast.
Average temperature peaks around 17°C in July and bottoms out near -15°C in January. Hard water is a season in its own right here. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late April. From about late April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Expect Lac Cheriore to follow that timing.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Should this one be busy, Lac de la Panse is 0.9 km off. For Lac Cheriore, the notice at the access point is the final word.
