Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with just enough SW wind to ripple the surface and steady pressure. Fish at Lac Charette should hold close to the shallows early and the drop later. Quiet conditions all day, with the night marginally better. Save the long walk for a better forecast.

Quebec holds Lac Charette, in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. The surface lies 390 metres up. Roughly 2.18 sq km of surface: treat each bay as a water in its own right. With 18 km or so of shoreline, boat anglers cover ground the bank cannot. It is among the larger waters listed here for Abitibi-Témiscamingue. The town to know is Lebel-sur-Quévillon, 65 km out. Then Senneterre, 70 km, and Barraute, 96 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Records held for Abitibi-Témiscamingue cover northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Lac Charette responds to conditions more than to tactics.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 16°C, while January sits near -19°C. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early May. Averages place the thaw at early May and the freeze at mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. That is the shape of the year on Lac Charette.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac Charles at 4.5 km is the sensible second choice. Rules at Lac Charette are worth checking on the day.
