The Outaouais entry here is Lac Caron, in Quebec. Height above sea level is 173 metres. This is a tiny water, and one quiet approach covers all of it. It is a small entry by Outaouais standards. Some 14 km away sits Saint-Raphaël, the nearest settlement. Then Maniwaki, 28 km, and Saint-Boniface, 41 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Take Lac Caron a stretch at a time.
Climate records put July near 19°C and January near -13°C. Hard water is a season in its own right here. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near late April. Averages place the thaw at late April and the freeze at early December. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. Plan around that when you fish Lac Caron.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. If the gate is shut, Lac Patry at 1.6 km is the nearest alternative. For Lac Caron in particular, ask before you travel.
