A closed sky with even light today, with an easy breeze from the SSW and pressure sitting still. The water to cover at Lac Canard is the calm side of the wind. Not a day the forecast likes; the night keeps a flicker of interest. Lower the pace and stay patient. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

The Côte-Nord entry here is Lac Canard, in Quebec. The ground around here is northern bush. At about 19 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The edge runs 2.9 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Quebec listings. The closest town, Port-Cartier, is 95 km distant. Saint-Alexandre is 96 km away, with Sept-Îles at 103 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Public occurrence data for Côte-Nord names logperch. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. On Lac Canard the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Average temperature peaks around 14°C in July and bottoms out near -19°C in January. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. Look for the thaw near mid May; the fishing lifts straight after. Climate figures give an open season running mid May to early November. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. The season on Lac Canard follows the weather closely.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Chavais, 1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. For Lac Canard in particular, ask before you travel.
