Heavy overcast holding through the day, with enough SSW wind to stack food downwind and no real change in pressure. Start the search at Lac Canard along windblown banks where food collects. The night should out-fish the rest of the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones.

Lac Canard falls in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, part of Quebec. Elevation runs to 489 metres. This is a pocket water of some 6 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Saint-Félicien lies 39 km from the water. Saint-Prime is 43 km and Roberval 48 km. Water in the same corner: Lac Vert some 0.9 km off, Lac de la Montagne just 1.3 km, Lac Cote some 1.4 km off, Lac Gilbert just 1.5 km and Lac Baptiste some 1.5 km off. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, recorded fish include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Lac Canard repays a walk before the first cast.
Seasonal averages run from -18°C in January up to 16°C in July. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Lac Canard runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac Vert, 0.9 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Signs at Lac Canard carry more weight than any list.
