A rough, wind-driven day, with a working W breeze and the barometer holding steady. Lac Cache should fish best around points where shallow meets deep today. The day holds up well from night into morning. Let the water tell you when to move. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Cache stands in Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Quebec. Elevation runs to 119 metres. It lies lower than most water we list in Quebec. Gaspé at 36 km is the nearest place to stop. Perce follows at 76 km, then Grande-Riviere at 82 km. Not far off: Lac a Leon 1 km away, Lac a Julien lies 1.5 km on, Lac a Lionel 1.6 km away, Lac des Chasseurs lies 3.4 km on and Lac Ti-Jean 3.5 km away. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Reported across Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine: Atlantic cod, American eel, Pacific cod, striped bass and alewife. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Read Lac Cache before you fish it and the day goes better.
Temperature averages peak at 16°C in July and bottom out at -12°C in January. Winter shuts the surface down for months. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near early May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about late November. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. At Lac Cache the season follows that pattern closely.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac a Leon sits 1 km off and takes the overflow. Treat access at Lac Cache as something to verify.
