Dull, settled light over the water, with mild air moving in from the WSW with the barometer flat. Most of the action on Lac C should come off inflow corners and shaded margins. A grinding day likely, with the night worth the effort if any is. Save the long walk for a better forecast.

Lac C lies in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. Everything around it is spruce and muskeg. The water measures roughly 6 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. It lies lower than most water we list in Quebec. Dolbeau-Mistassini is the closest town at 23 km. Further out sit Pont Rouge (24 km) and Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc (26 km). The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Reported across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean: northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Lac C the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Seasonal averages run from -19°C in January up to 17°C in July. Winter owns most of the year at this latitude. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Time your trip to Lac C by conditions rather than dates.
We hold no note on access for this one. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. The nearest alternative is Lac S, 0.7 km out. Ask locally about Lac C if anything is unclear.
