A grey, even sky over the water, with a faint S drift and pressure sitting still. On Lac Butor, work inflow corners and shaded margins first. A tough forecast; the evening offers the only real chance. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Look for Lac Butor in the Côte-Nord part of Quebec. This is boreal forest country. The whole thing is a single swim; walk it in a minute. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Côte-Nord. Nearest town is Saint-Honoré, 113 km off. For a city, Saguenay is 124 km off. Close by you also have: 1.4 km away is Lac de l'Ourson, Lac Bourglouis about 1.9 km, 1.9 km away is Lac Rodrigue, Lac Liliane about 2.3 km and 2.5 km away is Lac Sourire. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Reported across Côte-Nord: logperch. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Read Lac Butor before you fish it and the day goes better.
The year swings from about -19°C in January to roughly 15°C in July. The ice season is long here and the open one short. Break-up comes around mid May, and the run that follows is short and strong. Climate figures give an open season running mid May to mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Plan any trip to Lac Butor around it.
No access rule appears in what we hold. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. If the gate is shut, Lac de l'Ourson at 1.4 km is the nearest alternative. Confirm access to Lac Butor locally before you travel.
