Soft grey light all day today, with flat calm through the day and the barometer holding steady. The productive water at Lac Bull will be around the weed line and any gaps in it. If you must go, go in the morning. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Quebec holds Lac Bull, in Mauricie. The setting is spruce and muskeg on every side. Roughly 2.42 sq km of surface: treat each bay as a water in its own right. There is roughly 30 km of bank, and each arm behaves like its own water. On our Mauricie list it sits near the top for size. The closest town, Leblanc, is 80 km away. Then Weymontachie, 125 km, and Manawan, 129 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Open biodiversity records for Mauricie list northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Lac Bull responds to conditions more than to tactics.
In an average year July sits at 16°C and January at -18°C. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. Break-up sits around early May on average, with the water closing again about mid November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. At Lac Bull the season follows that pattern closely.
We hold no note on access for this one. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Should this one be busy, Lac Baril is 1.7 km off. Ask locally about Lac Bull if anything is unclear.
