Dull, settled light over the water, with mild air moving in from the SW with the barometer flat. On Lac Bruce, work reed fringes and open pockets first. If you must go, go in the evening. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Bruce is set in Côte-Nord, Quebec. It lies 140 metres above sea level. The water measures roughly 4 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. Most waters listed here for Côte-Nord are larger. The town to know is Baie-Comeau, 60 km out. For a city, Saguenay is 291 km off. Others close at hand: Lac Hachette out at 0.9 km, Lac Helene (1 km), Lac Curry out at 1.2 km, Lac Rhoda (1.3 km) and Lac Rossister out at 1.4 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Reported across Côte-Nord: logperch. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. On Lac Bruce the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
On the long-term average, July reads 16°C and January reads -14°C. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. Ice clears near early May and comes back about late November in a typical year. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Bruce.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. For a change of water, Lac Hachette is 0.9 km distant. Nothing on Lac Bruce should be assumed from this page alone.
