Passing showers with dry spells between, with next to no ripple and steady pressure. Start the search at Lac Brodie along points where shallow meets deep. A tough forecast; the middle of the day offers the only real chance. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Brodie is a Mauricie water, Quebec side. The country round it is northern bush from end to end. At about 45 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. On our Mauricie list it sits near the top for size. Leblanc is the closest place, 95 km off. It is 273 km to Gatineau, the nearest city. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Mauricie records list northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker among the fish reported. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. The near bank of Lac Brodie is often the one people ignore.
The range across the year is -18°C to 17°C. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near mid November in autumn. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Brodie.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Should this one be busy, Lac Easy is 1.1 km off. Signs at Lac Brodie carry more weight than any list.
