A closed sky with even light today, with calm air over the water with the glass holding level. The water to cover at Lac Bouthillette is reed fringes and open pockets. Little to get excited about, though the night holds a sliver of promise. Lower the pace and stay patient. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Look for Lac Bouthillette in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. The country here is pine and birch. Small at around 2 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. The closest town, Saint-Bruno-de-Guigues, is 21 km distant. Saint-Isidore is 24 km and Haileybury 31 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Across Abitibi-Témiscamingue, recorded fish include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Take Lac Bouthillette a stretch at a time.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 18°C, while January sits near -16°C. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late April. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late April until roughly late November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Expect Lac Bouthillette to follow that timing.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac Gingras, 2.5 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Rules at Lac Bouthillette are worth checking on the day.
