An even grey lid over the water, with a soft NNW wind and the barometer holding steady. Whatever swims in Lac Bouleau should be near shallow cover and weed edges. Numbers are low everywhere; the evening is the pick of them. Lower the pace and stay patient. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

The Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean end of Quebec holds Lac Bouleau. It lies 189 metres above sea level. It measures about 14 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The full circuit measures close to 3.5 km on foot. It lies lower than most water we list in Quebec. Saint-Ambroise is the closest place, 18 km off. Labrecque follows at 21 km, then Saint-Honoré at 23 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Records held for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean cover northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. At Lac Bouleau the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 17°C, while January sits near -18°C. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early May. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Time your trip to Lac Bouleau by conditions rather than dates.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. For a change of water, Lac a l'Ours is 1.4 km distant. For Lac Bouleau, the notice at the access point is the final word.
