Overcast skies today, with hardly a ripple anywhere and pressure going nowhere. The productive water at Lac Bouglon will be around the weed line and any gaps in it. If you pick one session, make it the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Bouglon falls in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, part of Quebec. Height above sea level is 449 metres. It covers about 3 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. It is a small entry by Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean standards. Some 88 km away sits Leblanc, the nearest settlement. Chibougamau is 104 km away, with Chapais at 107 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth figures are not published for this one. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Records held for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean cover northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. The shape of Lac Bouglon decides where the fish sit.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -18°C. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Winter locks it down, and early May brings it back. Ice usually gives way near early May, and forms again about mid November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. That is the shape of the year on Lac Bouglon.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac Lagrand, 0.8 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat Lac Bouglon as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
