Flurries coming and going today, with a faint W drift and steady pressure. Most of the action on Lac Bouchard should come off bays that hold the day's warmth. Expect the better fishing from the day. Give the likely spots time before moving. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Look for Lac Bouchard in Estrie, Quebec. It stands 276 metres above sea level. Small at around 2 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. On size it sits at the modest end of our Estrie list. Head to Cookshire, 2.1 km away, for anything you forgot. Further out sit Cookshire-Eaton (2.1 km) and East Angus (9.4 km). The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Species logged across Estrie include rainbow trout, white sucker, pumpkinseed, brook trout and rainbow smelt. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. The near bank of Lac Bouchard is often the one people ignore.
Averages here run 19°C at the top of summer and -11°C at the bottom of winter. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near mid April. Averages suggest open water from about mid April through to roughly early December. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Lac Bouchard runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Expect 1.4 km away in from where the car goes. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. If the gate is shut, Lac Prevert at 3.1 km is the nearest alternative. Ask locally about Lac Bouchard if anything is unclear.
