Overcast skies today, with flat calm through the day with a settled glass. Most of the action on Lac Boswell should come off any hard bottom among the soft. Everything points to the morning. Small adjustments will matter more than big moves. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Look for Lac Boswell in Capitale-Nationale, Quebec. It stands 314 metres above sea level. With some 33 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Shoreline length is close to 6.0 km, and each section fishes a little differently. It is among the larger waters listed here for Capitale-Nationale. Some 11 km away sits Laurentides, the nearest settlement. La Tuque lies 39 km off, Sainte-Thècle another 43 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Fish documented in Capitale-Nationale include lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon and longnose sucker. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. On Lac Boswell the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Average temperature peaks around 17°C in July and bottoms out near -15°C in January. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late April. Break-up sits around late April on average, with the water closing again about late November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. On Lac Boswell that shapes the whole year.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. Walleye come to jigs worked slow near bottom, and to trolled crankbaits along the drops at dusk. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Sharples, 1.2 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Boswell for certain.
