A wet system passing over today, with a light S breeze with the barometer flat. Start the search at Lac Bossu along the shallows early and the drop later. Everything points to the morning. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

The Mauricie entry here is Lac Bossu, in Quebec. This is pine and birch country. It covers about 4 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Mauricie. Head to Mandeville, 14 km away, for anything you forgot. Then Saint-Gabriel, 21 km, and Saint-Élie-de-Caxton, 29 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Across Mauricie, recorded fish include northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Lac Bossu responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Expect July to average close to 18°C, with January the cold end at about -14°C. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly late April. On average, late April opens the water and late November closes it again. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. That shapes the year on Lac Bossu.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac Joyal, 0.9 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing on Lac Bossu should be assumed from this page alone.
