Hard light and clear air over the water, with a light chop building from the W and steady pressure. Give sheltered bays and points the first hour at Lac Bon. The productive run goes morning through afternoon. Start on the obvious water and expand from there. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac Bon is one of the Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine listings for Quebec. The surface lies 100 metres up. Small at around 3 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Quebec listings. The nearest town is Cap-Chat, 4.1 km away. The big place round here is Saguenay, 326 km distant. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Reported across Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine: American eel, striped bass, alewife and rainbow smelt. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Lac Bon gives up more to patience than to distance.
On the long-term average, July reads 16°C and January reads -13°C. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly late November. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. On Lac Bon the same rules apply, with local timing.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Failing this one, try Lac a Campion, 13 km away. Nothing on Lac Bon should be assumed from this page alone.
