A grey, even sky over the water, with a gentle ripple from the S and no real change in pressure. Most of the action on Lac Blanche should come off shallow cover and weed edges. A slow day overall; the morning is the best of a quiet lot. Go lighter and slower than usual. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

The Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean end of Quebec holds Lac Blanche. Height above sea level is 331 metres. It covers about 9 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. The closest town, Labrecque, is 48 km away. The big place round here is Saguenay, 81 km distant. Within a short run: Lac de la Culotte de Constantin 0.9 km off, Lac Yvonne at about 1 km, Lac Rachel 1.7 km off, Lac de la Savane at about 1.8 km and Lac Retreci 2.2 km off. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. County-wide records name northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Lac Blanche repays a walk before the first cast.
Average temperature peaks around 16°C in July and bottoms out near -19°C in January. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near mid November in autumn. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. The season on Lac Blanche follows the weather closely.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Lac de la Culotte de Constantin, 0.9 km away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Lac Blanche in what we hold.
