Lac Bibo, Quebec: Fishing Spots and Seasons

• Overview

  Lac Bibo is one of the Mauricie waters in Quebec. It sits at 253 metres above sea level. Surface area runs to about 4 hectares — small enough to read in one session. On size it sits at the modest end of our Mauricie list. Supplies mean a trip to Saint-Tite, 42 km off. It is 73 km to Trois-Rivières, the nearest city. This one is safely inside the county line.

• Where to Fish on Lac Bibo

  Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Mauricie records list northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch among the fish reported. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Read Lac Bibo before you fish it and the day goes better.

• Seasonal Patterns

  In an average year July sits at 18°C and January at -14°C. Winter shuts the surface down for months. Ice is part of the season here, ending near late April. Break-up near late April, freeze-up near late November: that is the shape of an average year. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. At Lac Bibo the season follows that pattern closely.

• Tackle & Baits

  Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Mapping shows a campsite some 1 km from the water. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy.
