No direct sun expected today, with dead-still conditions and no real change in pressure. Expect most activity at Lac Belanger around any hard bottom among the soft. If you must go, go in the morning. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Lac Belanger is a Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean water, Quebec side. Elevation runs to 570 metres. At about 15 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The whole outline is near 2.5 km, and most of it is walkable. It sits higher than most water we list in Quebec. Labrecque is the closest town at 87 km. It is 102 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Records held for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean cover northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. At Lac Belanger the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 15°C, while January sits near -19°C. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly mid May. Ice clears near mid May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. It holds true on Lac Belanger more years than not.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Should this one be busy, Lac Morency is 1.5 km off. What applies at Lac Belanger may have changed since it was mapped.
