A grey, even sky over the water, with a light WSW breeze with the barometer flat. Lac Beemer should fish best around the shaded margin through bright spells today. A tough forecast; the night offers the only real chance. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac Beemer falls in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, part of Quebec. It lies 300 metres above sea level. The water covers some 16 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. A shoreline of some 3.1 km keeps the choices simple. Roberval is the closest place, 17 km off. Beyond it, Saint-Prime at 20 km and Saint-Félicien at 25 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Records held for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean cover northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. At Lac Beemer light and wind decide more than tackle does.
The seasonal spread runs -17°C to 17°C. The freeze holds for the better part of the year. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Climate figures give an open season running early May to mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Lac Beemer runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. If the gate is shut, Lac Hirondelle at 0.5 km is the nearest alternative. None of that is settled for Lac Beemer in what we hold.
