Dull, settled light over the water, with a firm SSW blow with a settled glass. Give the margins and the shelf beyond them the first hour at Lac Bardos. The numbers single out the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac Bardos sits within Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean in Quebec. The country here is taiga. Small at around 2 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. On size it sits at the modest end of our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list. Start from Normandin, 74 km down the road. The nearest city of size is Saguenay, 190 km away. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. County-wide records name northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Fish Lac Bardos where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Average temperature peaks around 16°C in July and bottoms out near -18°C in January. Cold dominates the calendar on water this far north. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. The open-water window runs from around early May to about mid November in an average year. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. It holds true on Lac Bardos more years than not.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. The nearest alternative is Lac Celoux, 0.2 km out.
