A closed sky with even light today, with a light chop building from the SSW with the barometer flat. Lac Bar should fish best around windblown banks where food collects today. Quiet conditions all day, with the night marginally better. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Quebec holds Lac Bar, in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Height above sea level is 391 metres. Roughly 38 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. Shoreline comes to about 3.8 km, small enough to learn in a day. Senneterre lies 61 km from the water. After that come Barraute at 88 km and Val-d'Or at 90 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Abitibi-Témiscamingue records list northern pike, yellow perch and walleye among the fish reported. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. On Lac Bar the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Long-term averages put July at about 17°C and January near -18°C. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. At Lac Bar the season follows that pattern closely.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac Jotul at 1.9 km is the sensible second choice. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Bar for certain.
