Flat light and a covered sky today, with a kind SW breeze on the water with the glass holding level. Activity on Lac Banat should centre on the seam between weed and open water. A tough forecast; the morning offers the only real chance. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Banat falls in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, part of Quebec. It stands 452 metres above sea level. A splashy cast here empties the swim; a quiet one owns it. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Val-d'Or is the closest place, 80 km off. Further out sit Senneterre (80 km) and Barraute (97 km). Also within reach: Lac Nickel 0.8 km, Lac Gaveaux 1.2 km away, Lac Lanrial 1.5 km, Lac Gecko 1.7 km away and Lac Serrs 1.8 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Survey and observation records for Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. On Lac Banat the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
The seasonal spread runs -17°C to 17°C. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. In an average year the thaw lands around early May and the freeze near mid November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Anyone fishing Lac Banat regularly works to that calendar.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. For a change of water, Lac Nickel is 0.8 km distant. Rules at Lac Banat are worth checking on the day.
